First Aid Instructor Pathway

To become a certified Wilderness & Remote First Aid Instructor, you need to:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Hold a valid Canadian Red Cross participant-level certification in the relevant discipline.
  • Successfully undergo a skills evaluation.
  • Attend the discipline-specific classroom component.
  • Complete the teaching experience at your desired course level.

Instructor Certification

Certifications are valid for three years and align with the courses you intend to teach. Certification options include:

  • Remote First Aid Instructor (RFAI): Certified to teach Remote First Aid.
  • Wilderness First Aid Instructor (WFAI): Certified to teach Remote First Aid and Wilderness First Aid.
  • Wilderness First Responder Instructor (WFRI): Certified to teach Remote First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, Oxygen Therapy, Airway Management, Basic Life Support, and First Responder.
