Course Overview
This adapted Emergency First Aid course is thoughtfully designed for individuals who benefit from a slower-paced and supportive learning environment. Spanning two half-day sessions, the course provides the same comprehensive content as the standard one-day program, covering essential lifesaving skills in first aid and CPR (including AED training).
Ideal for participants or those who thrive with additional processing time and a quieter learning space, this course ensures all learners can build confidence and competence in emergency response. It meets provincial/territorial workplace safety standards and is recognized as a Basic First Aid equivalent.
Participants will leave with practical tools and the knowledge needed to respond effectively in both workplace and home emergencies, delivered in an environment that prioritizes accessibility, comfort, and understanding.
What You’ll Learn
Introduction to the Red Cross:
- Overview of the Red Cross
- The role of a first aider
Preparation and Response:
- Preparing for emergencies
- Using the EMS system effectively
- Mastering the Check, Call, Care protocol
Airway Emergencies:
- Recognizing and responding to airway obstructions
Breathing & Circulation Emergencies:
- Identifying and managing breathing and circulation issues
- First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest
Wound Care:
- Basic techniques for wound management
- Opioid poisoning awareness
Additional content may be included to meet specific legislation requirements.
Instructor
The course will be led by a certified First Aid Instructor, combining practical hands-on training with theoretical knowledge to prepare participants for real-life emergency scenarios.
Completion Requirements
- Demonstrate required skills and critical steps successfully
- Achieve a minimum of 75% on the written knowledge evaluation
- Attend and actively participate in 100% of the course
Certification
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a 3-year certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR/AED Level C.
